Antalya Travel Guide: Beaches, Weather and Where to Stay
Choose Antalya if you want a working coastal city as well as time on the beach. Decide between the old town, Konyaaltı and Lara before choosing a hotel: an Antalya address alone says little about the holiday you will have.

Make two shortlists: the neighbourhood and the accommodation. A hotel with the right facilities in the wrong part of the city can leave you travelling every day. If evenings out matter, map the walk to restaurants. If you expect to spend most of the week at the hotel, prioritise its beach access, shade and room layout.

Beaches: match the shoreline to your day
Konyaaltı and Lara are different beach areas, not interchangeable hotel labels. For either one, inspect recent photographs of the precise beach section you will use. Look for the surface at the waterline, steps, road crossings and whether loungers are included. A photograph of a sandy sunbathing area does not establish a shallow entry into the water.
Staying in Kaleiçi is a city-break choice first. Work out how you will reach a beach rather than assuming that a sea view means direct beach access. For families, a shorter, simpler daily route can matter more than a larger room farther away.
When to visit
The official MGM Antalya series records average daily highs of 25.7°C in May, 34.2°C in July and 26.6°C in October for 1930–2025. These are historical averages, not temperatures promised for your trip. July sightseeing needs a different pace from a spring visit; October needs a flexible outdoor plan.

Things to do without overloading the itinerary
GoTürkiye identifies Kaleiçi and the old harbour among Antalya’s sights. Build a first day around one area, leaving time for meals and a break rather than treating every landmark as a separate excursion. Keep longer trips for another day and verify opening arrangements with the attraction before travelling.
For a mixed week, alternate a city day with a beach day. This also makes it easier to adapt to the forecast. A central base suits independent evenings; a beach hotel suits a slower schedule with occasional trips into town.
Airport and booking checks
Antalya Airport uses the code AYT. Check that code on the flight itinerary, then request a transfer quote for the actual hotel address. Shared transfers can include other hotel stops; ask whether the quoted duration allows for them. Arrival time, baggage collection and the hotel’s check-in policy also affect the first day.

It can be, if you choose a base near the places you want to use daily. Map the hotel, beach and evening restaurants together. Treat distant attractions as separate trips and check the available transport for your dates.
Is Antalya the same as the Antalya resort region?
No. Hotel searches may use Antalya for a much wider holiday region. Check the town and exact address: a hotel in Side, Belek or Alanya is not a hotel in Antalya city.
